Chilled taster sessions

FRIDAY EVENING HANDBUILDING WORKSHOPS:
Join us for a relaxed handbuilding workshop on Friday evenings, lasting for two hours 6-8pm. Each session will focus on a unique theme, allowing you to craft various pieces using different handbuilding techniques. The workshops are structured to follow our beginners programme with everything you would learn with membership. (excluding throwing because we like to do that in a smaller class to make sure you get hand on support) The cost is £45, which covers tuition, clay and decorative slips and glazing with transparent glaze.

Friday 20th February 6-8pm Thumb pots and slips.
When you are building with clay, you need to know how to make things hollow and without air bubbles; you need to know how different clays work when you build with them and how to join clay pieces together securely. In this workshop you will trial several different clays; find out the best way to control the shape and finish. You will also learn how to work with slips, ending up with three or four different pieces.. Materials: White clay, Crank Clay, Black Clay. Slips.

Friday 10th April 6-8pm Slab building and slips
A colourful theme centered around spring using the Slab method and our extensive collection of coloured slips. Materials: White Clay, coloured slips.

Friday 19th June 6-8pm Coiling and slips
A mindful approach to building a little bit bigger using the coiling method, focused on the Summer Solstice.

If you do not want to use slips to decorate and instead would like to join a glazing workshop, please let Zara know.

THROWING WORKSHOPS:

Join us for an engaging throwing class suitable for all levels, lasting 2.5 hours. You'll have the opportunity to make 3-4 pots, all of which will be fired. This experience is £65 per person for a 1:4 class, providing a fantastic way to try something new, refine your skills, and meet new people. (This does not include glazing. If you do not want to attend the glazing workshop, you can pay us to glaze it for you.. but it’s not as exciting).

DECORATING

Join our glazing workshop for just £25 per person and enjoy a 1.5-hour class where you'll learn everything about glazing and get hands-on experience under supervision.

Young people’s workshops/family workshops

We do plan these throughout the year but as MWCS’s classes run all year and not term times only, we have to fit them in to our existing programme. Please fill in our contact form and ask to be added to our list of interested parties and you will be the first to know when we are holding a workshop.
